The Central Criminal Police (KRP) has begun a preliminary investigation into the activities of the City of Helsinki. The case is linked to a hack that came to light in the spring of 2024.

According to Leponen, the pre -trial investigation is at the very beginning and the suspects have not been named so far.
– One of the key objectives of the investigation is to investigate the roles of persons regarding the protection of information. Only then can the district of any suspects can be limited. Many different operators are responsible for the information systems of the City of Helsinki, says Leponen.
In the pre -trial investigation, an IT investigation is conducted and the parties are consulted to determine the roles and responsibilities of the persons. Criminal titles may become more specific as the investigation progresses.
