Kroos brings Leverkusen star Wirtz into conversation with Real Madrid

Florian Wirtz stands out at Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Of course, this didn’t go unnoticed by former national player Toni Kroos, who brought the DFB professional into conversation with his club Real Madrid. Meanwhile, rumors of a move to FC Bayern persist.

Real superstar Toni Kroos makes no secret of how much he appreciates the skills of his compatriot Florian Wirtz.

“Which player would have the potential to play for Real Madrid? I should have a more global view, but I’m thinking of Florian Wirtz. I think he could fit,” the 33-year-old is quoted as saying in the Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 20-year-old from Bayer Leverkusen played a key role in the outstanding start to the season, scoring three goals and five assists in eleven league games. Almost all offensive efforts come from the Werkself’s number ten, who also played well in the cup (one goal and one assist each) and in the Europa League (two goals and four assists).

Wirtz has long since aroused the desires of the really big top clubs. FC Bayern in particular has been linked to a move for Pulheimer for months.

Bayer sports director Rolfes: “I’ll still see him with us after the European Championships”

Wirtz only signed a new five-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2022. A commitment from the right foot is unlikely to be favorable at all. Transfer fees of at least 85 million euros have been floating around in the media for a long time, and the portal “El Nacional” recently estimated that Bayer would not be weakened below a sum of 100 million euros.

Bayer Leverkusen’s sports director Simon Rolfes is currently putting a stop to a change next summer anyway. “Nobody needs to come because of Florian now anyway. I’ll see him with us after the European Championships,” said the 41-year-old in a recent interview with “Bild am Sonntag”.
