The Finnish skier took his foot off the gas in the middle of the race and stops the Tour de Ski.
Krista Pärmäkoski informed the responsible coach of the Finnish women’s cross country team Reijo Jylhä in the middle of the fourth stage of the Tour de Ski that he will stop the tour and go home.
– Reijo replied that it was a good decision, Pärmäkoski reports.
He hopes to get from Toblach to Munich on Thursday evening.
– I guess we have a ride going to Munich airport. I tried to yell, don’t let me off that ride.
Pärmäkoski’s coach Matti Haavisto said on Tuesday that if his protégé’s results do not improve, the tour will be abandoned after stage 4/6.
– Oxygen does not circulate normally in the body. The upper body can work, but the legs are out of the game. It’s not easy to ski, says the skier.
Pärmäkoski fell ill with corona after the Independence Day weekend.
– There have been tough races and Levi had tough training before the Tour. Gotta take it easy after this.
A skier living in Kuortane plans to go to Seinäjoki on skis and to ski in the corners of his home on a roller mat.

On Thursday, the Finn started the 20-kilometer traditional pursuit race with a wave start in 2:46, the first to hit the track Jessie Diggins after.
At the finish line, the athlete from Ikaali was almost seven minutes behind the American who won the race.
Pärmäkoski said that he took his foot off the gas during the race.
– At the point when I saw that it wasn’t working. When I dropped from the group and realized that the pace was not enough, I reduced the work to the comfort zone, he clarified.
