“Out of respect, the statues cannot be sold. That is why we brought them back to Studio Koen Vanmechelen so that they can get a new meaningful place,” says Marjolein Vandermeeren of Kringwinkel ‘t rad. On December 8, the statues went to Limburg, where they will be integrated into a future Vanmechelen installation.
The project thus remains a powerful symbol of collective memory of WWI.
