After two games in the West-Flemish semi-final of the play-offs, BC Oostende was already in the title and half of the title. The coastal team won both games against Kortrijk, and so the spurs with their backs against the wall stood. One advantage for them? They played at home, in an exhausted long Munte.
The fans saw the visitors from Ostend start scorching. Kortrijk soon looked at a 0-8 deficit, but the home team remained calm. Sam Hofman aimed two three-pointers and a strong Darren Williams brought the Spurs up and over the visitors: 25-21 after the first quarter.
Hofman remained flawlessly from the three-point line, and after loss of the visitors, Kortrijk ended halfway through the second quarter to 43-36. After a time-out from Dario Gjerga, Ostend fought back in the game. A smooth scoring Timmy Allen brought the visitors to 46-46 three minutes before the break. After a strong lock with many duels, errors and free throws, we went to rest at a 53-49 lead for the home team.
Just like in the first half, Ostend started best after the break. The visitors quickly returned to one point, but a strong moment of Pouedet made Kortrijk again run to 66-59. Do you think about it? And it became extremely exciting. With two minutes to go, both teams 91 were the same. But after two missed free throws and an exclusion from coach Gjerga, the light went out completely at Ostend. The home team benefited optimally and eventually won 103-96.
