Korkut announcement to mistake-keeper Schwolow – “He has to see that it gets better”

His mistakes cause frustration at Hertha! Goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow (29) recently made a big buck against Cologne (1: 3), Bayern (1: 4) and on Friday against Bochum (1: 1).

His mistakes cost points in the relegation battle. You can clearly see that his control of the penalty area is weak. Leaving his goal line aggressively and intercepting flanks, you hardly see the ex-Freiburger.

Now he gets a clear message from coach Tayfun Korkut (47) after the Bochum buck: “Alex didn’t look happy, he knows that himself. So I’m sure he’s very self-critical. We have to see that things get better. That is our task and, above all, his.”

Schwolow sees it a little differently: “We were unlucky when equalizing, the ball landed unluckily on the opponent – and they just had to push it in.” Sounds like an excuse!

► It’s true that Bochum striker Polter only had to push the ball in to make it 1-1 (48′).

► It is not true that it was bad luck! A goalkeeper in normal form would never have punched the ball in front of the opponent’s feet, but would have either held it or blocked it to the right in a controlled manner.

One question is appropriate: does Korkut put the insecure Schwolow on the bench? Actually, that would be necessary immediately, but Hertha is in a goalkeeping dilemma because the other keepers are all injured.

► Rune Jarstein (37) is fighting for his comeback after knee surgery in rehab. He probably won’t play again this season.

► Oliver Christensen (22), who is committed to the future, was only in quarantine because of Corona and is now lying flat with a thigh injury. When he starts training is open.

Sonnyboy Oliver Christensen made 71 competitive games for Denmark's first division club Odense. He recently showed strong performances at the U21 European Championship. In Denmark's A-Elf he played once (11/11/2020) in a 2-0 win against Sweden (Photo: City-Press GmbH)

► Nils Körber (25) is suffering from a knee injury, has no chance and will leave Hertha.

Means: Schwolow will probably also guard the goal in the relegation duel in Fürth next Saturday.

Unless Korkut takes the consequences and gives a young goalkeeper the chance. Marcel Lotka (20) was on the bench against Bochum. And Hertha traditionally has a good goalkeeping school.
