In group A of the Korfbal League, Koog Zaandijk lost the last competition match against Fortuna. The Koogers, already certain of a place in the championship group, lost 21-28 against the unbeaten Fortuna.
Marjolijn Schenk became top scorer on the side of KZ with five goals. Immediately after scoring the first run, the team from Delft took over the game. It was 8-15 halfway through. The team of trainer/coach Tim Bakker failed to close that gap in the second half. The difference was never smaller than five points (19-24).
Due to the defeat, KZ starts with four points in the championship group. Fortuna takes eight points from the first part of the competition. PKC and DVO collected six points. DOS’46 and LDODK start at zero. The best four teams from the championship group play in the play-offs for a ticket to the final in Ahoy.
The two other North Holland teams, Blauw-Wit and Groen Geel, have to save their lives in the relegation group.
