Konrad Laimer denies moving to Bayern Munich

For months, the rumor has persisted that FC Bayern is trying to hire Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. Most recently, it was even said that the deal had long been a done deal. The 25-year-old has now spoken out for himself.

Konrad Laimer is “at the top of the list” in FC Bayern’s plans, an “oral agreement” between FC Bayern and the midfielder from RB Leipzig has already been reached, the “Sport Bild” reported on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the Austrian clearly rejected the efforts of the Saxons to extend his expiring contract beyond the summer of 2023.

Merely recruiting Liverpool FC could possibly prevent a move to the Isar, it is said.

According to the “kicker”, RB Leipzig has not yet completely given up the fight for Laimer. A meeting between the parties is scheduled.

Laimer also did not want to confirm a permanent move to Bayern Munich. However, he did not deny this either.

The “Leipziger Volkszeitung” was able to wrest a similar statement from the Noch-RB professional. “Nothing decided, nothing excluded,” Laimer is quoted as saying in the paper.

Statements from Konrad Laimer or from FC Bayern in January?

But it is also clear: At the moment, Laimer is not allowed to confirm an upcoming transfer without the permission of his current employer.

Negotiations with a new club are officially only allowed six months before the current contract expires. Concrete statements in the personal details should therefore not be available until January 2023 at the earliest.

However, the fact that a deal is imminent is not out of the blue: FC Bayern is said to have courted Laimer in the summer. However, RB Leipzig did not let their top performer go at the time and thus risked a free transfer. This could now happen – a circumstance that is certainly not inconvenient for FC Bayern.
