Telstar gave up a 1-3 lead against Roda JC and to make matters worse, trainer Andries Jonker announced his departure from the White Lions after the 4-3 defeat. Telstar midfielder Ozan Kökcü was visibly shaken after the disappointing defeat. “We’re done with it. Apparently there’s nothing we can do about it.”
“Everyone sees that we can play football well and that we have shown in many matches that we are better than the nineteenth place where we are now,” said Kökcü. “We have had too many, too few results this season. Nobody is happy with this.”
Also trainer Andries Jonker, who announced that he was leaving Telstar the same evening, could not believe that his team once again handed over a victory. “This was the dessert after a year and a half of misery. I saw and enjoyed a great Telstar for 75 minutes,” said Jonker.
