Since Robert Lewandowski’s change, FC Bayern has had difficulty signing Bundesliga stars. The recent painful cancellation: Florian Wirtz. The Bundesliga is developing into an international market and Bavaria remains.

In January 2014 everything was clear: Robert Lewandowski, by far the Bundesliga player, switched to FC Bayern, to the industry crescent, to the flagship of German football. The move to Munich was no surprise, it was the logical way that so many highly agreed Bundesliga players had gone before him.

Kapellmann, Basler, Neuer – All paths led to Munich

From Jupp Kapellmann to Lothar Matthäus, from Andi Brehme to Stefan Effenberg, Mayor Mario Basler, Giovane Elber, Sebastian Deisler, Lúcio, Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez, Luiz Gustavo, Manuel Neuer or Lewandowski. The list could be much longer – quintessence: the best Bundesliga players ended up in Munich. Exceptions such as Bernd Schuster or Günter Netzer confirmed the rule.

De Bruyne, Haaland, Brandt – Lots of failed flirts

But since Lewandowski moved to Isar more than ten years ago, these times have been over. At Kevin de Bruyne, the Munich team found the price tag too high. At Ousmane Dembélé it quickly became clear that FC Barcelona would pay a ridiculously high sum of 135 million euros at that time.

Naby Keïta canceled FC Bayern and switched to Liverpool FC, Luka Jović opted for Real Madrid a year later, Julian Brandt even for the Ligarival Borussia Dortmund. Despite the huge price tag, Haaland was intensively promoted, according to media reports in hours of meeting, tried to lure the miracle striker to Munich. At Jude Bellingham, FC Bayern quickly gave up, Randal Kolo Muani wanted to go home to PSG.

The Munich team continued to sign players from the Bundesliga. But to get to the top shelf, FC Bayern stretched out again and again. Because the reputation of Bundesliga players and German talents has increased in the global market.

The change of the Bundesliga transfer markets

Generated Bundesliga clubs in the transfer window, in which Lewandowski moved to Bayern, more income from transfers within the Bundesliga (approx. 104 million euros) than from all other leagues worldwide (approx. 101.5 million euros), this ratio had completely changed ten years later. Last summer, the highest sum of transfer income from the Premier League (248 million). The Bundesliga was only in second place (186 million). Gelder from other leagues exceeded the income from the domestic transfer market by 2.75 times.

The Bundesliga, once often a place for bargain hunters, approached the expensive noble boutiques in England and Spain in the past decade. And so since 2014 she only spent money for a Bundesliga player in one season. The top transfers all came from abroad.

The talents have long been dreaming of Spain

And the change in the media landscape is also a problem for FC Bayern. In a world in which German youth players no longer primarily grow up on TV with the Bundesliga, but have long since gained its entrance to Premier League and Primera División, FC Bayern has lost the status as a place of longing for many. Kai Havertz founded his move to Chelsea FC: “Bavaria is generally a huge club, to which it is difficult to say no as a German player, but my personal goal was always to play abroad at some point.”

Florian Wirtz – from the König transfer to the fall

All of this should change this summer. With Florian Wirtz, FC Bayern finally wanted to fish the most sought -after player in the Bundesliga. For this goal, Uli Hoeneß returned to the role of the chief negotiator. Hoeneß had been dragging to Florian Wirtz for years, who could not be represented by any consultant professional, but through his father, tried to wake up at Wirtz at a young age to switch to FC Bayern at some point. The horrendous high price, which will appear in the list of the highest transfer editions in Bundesliga history in the future, should be covered with a loan if necessary. And Florian Wirtz? Opted for Liverpool.

The change has been official since Friday. And FC Bayern leaves the ring in the eleventh year in a row in the fight for the best players of the Bundesliga clubs as a loser. The Munich will probably invest the high sums for high -quality newcomers again this year abroad.
