Knor voted best Dutch cinema film of 2022

The ‘Bredase’ animated film Knor has been named the best Dutch cinema film of 2022. After a vote of fifty Dutch film critics, the film received the most votes. The film previously won three Golden Calves and was chosen as the Dutch entry for the Oscar for best long animation.

Knor premiered last summer and received rave reviews in the Dutch press. Thanks to the big win during the Golden Calves gala, the film’s success continued to grow and attract visitors to the cinemas. Animator Jasper Kuipers from Breda worked on the film for three years. “I think the strength is that everyone was really looking forward to it and really enjoyed making the film,” he said at the time.

It is now the twentieth year in a row that the Dutch film press holds the Film of the Year election. In addition to the best Dutch film, a title is also awarded to the best ‘general’ film. In recent years, Druk (2021), Babyteeth (2020), Parasite (2019) and Call me by your name (2018) won that title. This year it went to the American action comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once.
