The assignment for Knack Roeselare was simple in advance. Two sets win against Innsbruck and then it was allowed to go to the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup, where it played the final two years ago. The opponent from Innsbruck was defeated in the first match in Austria after a true thriller, Knack eventually won 2-3.

At home in the tombet hall, the West Flemish people had to start immediately and they did. After an equal start, Knack pushed on to 14-8. Basil Dermaux was back in the base after an injury and was also important for the home team. From 14-8 it went to 23-17. For a moment Innsbruck was still struggling, but at 24-20 the home team finished his first setball. 1-0, 50 percent of the assignment completed.

In set 2 the visitors started better, a little more mistakes at Knack caused a 4-7 deficit. Then Roeselare woke up again and went up and over Innsbruck to 15-13. In an exciting end, the Austrians got the first setball, but it was not cashed in. In the end, Knack pulled the set to himself, 27-25 and the qualification for the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup was inside.

In the unnecessary third set, Roeselare still completely outlined his opponent and made it a smooth 3-0 home victory via 25-15.
