For weeks they terrorized Berlin’s motorists with their blockade actions, now one of the climate stickers was on trial in the capital – and was convicted.

Nils R. (20) is said to have sat down with six other people on the A100 city highway in Berlin-Wedding in the morning hours and glued it to the roadway. The 20-year-old confirmed on Tuesday before the Tiergarten district court that he was there.

He justified his behavior and referred to energy policy and climate change as justification. “I’m sorry we have to be a nuisance – but we have to be a nuisance,” he said.

A penalty order for a fine of 450 euros was initially issued against the 20-year-old for coercion and resistance to law enforcement officers – 30 daily rates of 15 euros each. Because he had lodged an objection to this, an oral hearing was held.

The verdict: R. is guilty of coercion! 60 hours of community service in a leisure facility within 3 months!

It was the first trial of this kind nationwide, the court and the group “Last Generation” said unanimously. The verdict should be spoken on Tuesday afternoon.

The activists are demanding more action from the federal government in the fight against climate change. By sticking to the street, they want to prevent the police from taking them away quickly.
