In the night from Friday to Saturday, Lieke Klaver just failed to take a medal in the 400 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene. The Dutch finished fourth in 50.33.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo lived up to her favorites status by taking gold. The Bahamas athlete clocked 49.11.

It was already a huge achievement that Klaver was in the final battle of the 400 meters. She is the first Dutchman ever to reach the final of a World Cup at this distance and she also did that with two Dutch records. In the series she clocked 50.24 and in the semifinals it went even faster (50.18).

Earlier this World Cup, Klaver already won silver with the Dutch team in the 4×400 meter mixed relay. She will probably also compete with the Dutch women on the 4×400 meters on Sunday.
