King’s Day: Maastricht boas receive help from students | 1Limburg

Eighty students from Vista College in Heerlen will help from Monday during the preparations for King’s Day in Maastricht. It concerns aspiring boas, who have almost finished their studies.

The boas are deployed throughout the city and are necessary to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Not only on King’s Day itself, but also in the days before that, there is already plenty of supervision and enforcement. “We help with the removal of bicycles, but also make residents aware of the traffic measures,” says Cheryl Hendriks, one of the many students.

Powers
Since these are aspiring boas who have also already been sworn in, they have the same powers as their adult colleagues. They may also issue fines. But in practice this will probably not be necessary. “The important thing is that these people gain practical experience and King’s Day is ideal for that. And in Maastricht they are also desperately needed,” says teacher Ivo den Brok of Vista College.
