Top darts player Michael van Gerwen (37) had an eventful evening on King’s Day last week. He went to party with friends in Den Bosch, but out of nowhere he suffered a serious blow.
Michael van Gerwen enjoyed a King’s Day party last Monday. He even skipped two floor tournaments for the occasion. It was supposed to be a fun evening.
But it was an eventful evening of celebration. Images shown in the podcast RoddelPraat show from minute 18 how the Dutchman was talking in a group and suddenly received a strong blow.
Van Gerwen seemed shocked for a moment and immediately wanted to respond to his attacker. Although he was quickly led away by the guards present. Mighty Mike sprinted after him, but it was impossible to see what happened next.
The Dutch number four in the world rankings is known to like to party. Two weeks ago he climbed over the security fences during a concert in Rotterdam. Images of a partying Van Gerwen also emerged the day before the tournament in Wieze.
Van Gerwen himself does not want to dwell on the matter for too long. The thirteenth matchday of the Premier League is on the agenda on Thursday evening. The Dutchman will compete against world number two Luke Humphries.
Van Gerwen is currently in fourth place in the standings. That’s good for a spot on the final day. Gian van Veen will also be in action in Aberdeen. The World Cup finalist will play against leader Jonny Clayton.
Last year, Van Gerwen was also in the news because of a disturbance while going out. Then he was involved in a fight in a döner shop in Den Bosch.
