Touching moment filmed with the royal couple in Suriname

Surinamese President Jennifer Simons has officially welcomed King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima to Suriname. The royal couple were received with a welcome ceremony at the presidential palace in Paramaribo on Monday morning local time, which is four hours later in Suriname. The king told the president that he was ‘so grateful’ to be in Suriname. After the national anthems of both countries had sounded and they had introduced the delegations to each other on the red carpet, the royal couple were welcomed again, this time by Surinamese and Dutch schoolchildren who had gathered at the palace. The children waved Dutch and Surinamese flags. The king greeted the children warmly and enthusiastically wished them a good morning.
