The Belgian prince scored another 5.9 in 2023 and last year he achieved a 6.6. Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) points to a number of initiatives that may have contributed to the higher popularity of the king. For example, Belgians were allowed to ask the king for his 65th birthday and the Christmas speech was given a new look. According to HLN, Filip is more popular in Flanders than in Wallonia: 66 percent of the Flemish people are satisfied with Filip compared to 53 percent of the Walloons.
Queen Mathilde gets a 7.0
The poll was taken in the run -up to the Belgian national holiday, coming Monday. Filip, who has been king since 2013, does get less appreciation than both his wife Queen Mathilde and daughter Princess Elisabeth. Mathilde gets a 7 and Elisabeth is the most popular member of the Belgian royal family with a 7.1.
