For example, Belgians were allowed to ask the king for his 65th birthday and the Christmas speech was given a new look. According to HLN, Filip is more popular in Flanders than in Wallonia: 66 percent of the Flemish people are satisfied with Filip compared to 53 percent of the Walloons.

The poll was taken in the run -up to the Belgian national holiday, coming Monday. Filip, who has been king since 2013, does get less appreciation than both his wife Queen Mathilde and daughter Princess Elisabeth. Mathilde gets a 7 and Elisabeth is the most popular member of the Belgian royal family with a 7.1.
