St Edward’s Crown, the true symbol of England’s royalty
Dating back to the 17th century and a symbol of the British monarchy featured in all official royal regalia, St Edward’s Crown, in gold and precious gems, was rejected by Queen Victoria as too heavy. Normally locked away in a safe in the Tower of London, it was last used by Elizabeth II on her coronation dayin June 1953.

The other crown associated with the Coronation
The lightest but no less important Imperial State Crownwill be worn by Charles at the end of the event, when the sovereign and Queen Camilla – who will wear Queen Mary’s crown instead – will leave Westminster Abbey to return, in procession, to Buckingham Palace.
