King Albert and Princess Delphine seen together for the first time

It is the first time they appeared in public together.

Completely

The deceased members of the Belgian royal family are commemorated every year during a mass in Laeken. The Church of Our Lady contains the tombs of the most important deceased members of the Belgian royal family. King Albert (87) arrived with a walking stick and plaster on his head. He walked to church with his wife, Queen Paola. The royal couple Filip and Mathilde were also present, as were Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire. Princess Delphine and her husband James O’Hare also attended for the first time.

The Belgian royalty watcher Wim Dehandschieter shares images on Twitter. “King Albert and Prince Delphine in one image in public. That we would ever experience that – it seemed unimaginable two years ago,” he writes.

Official Activities

Last year there was also a commemoration of the deceased members of the royal family, but because of the corona measures there was no mass. The royals could then go to church per couple at different times to commemorate. As a result, Albert and Delphine did not cross paths at the time. It was then the first time that the new princess experienced an official activity of the royal family. Delphine was also present on the national holiday last year, but King Albert is no longer allowed to go there since his abdication in 2013.

Far away from each other

On Thursday, the king was reasonably far from his illegitimate daughter in the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Laeken. He was seated in the front row on the left, while Princess Delphine was seated in the second row on the right. After the mass, the Belgian royals greeted their fans. They got flowers and gifts.

For this reason you rarely see the old royal couple of Belgium:
