FC Bayern would like to extend the contract with Joshua Kimmich. The DFB captain has not yet agreed. But the club wants to have an answer in a few weeks.

Will Joshua Kimmich extend his contract with FC Bayern? The working paper of the captain of the German national soccer team expires next summer. Bayern are trying to retain Kimmich for the future. But the DFB star has not yet decided what will happen next for him. Finally, he emphasized that he would deal with the question of the future with his family around Christmas.

As the pay-TV broadcaster Sky now reports, those responsible at FC Bayern don’t want to wait any longer anyway. They are demanding a clear announcement from Kimmich regarding his future – at the beginning of January.

According to the report, it is unlikely that Kimmich will decide to extend his contract with Bayern in the near future. Although the Munich team is offering the 29-year-old a long-term contract, two top international clubs are said to have Kimmich in their sights: Manchester City and FC Barcelona.

Another problem for Bayern is that they would probably have let Kimmich go in the summer if they had made a suitable offer. A circumstance that is said to have irritated Kimmich. A reduced salary in the event of a contract extension has also been discussed in recent weeks.

But the tide has now turned. Kimmich has become indispensable for FC Bayern. The midfielder, who is almost always injury-free, has impressed with strong performances in recent weeks, for example scoring brilliantly in the 5-1 win against his former club Leipzig.

After the European Championships, he received the captain’s armband in the DFB team from national coach Julian Nagelsmann and is now the figurehead of the German selection – and also at FC Bayern. So it’s no wonder that the club is desperate to retain Kimmich.
