Andy Wilman remembered Kimi Räikkö.

Rainy weather and Honda probably didn’t fire up Kimi Räikkö. PDO

Finnish F1 legend Kimi Raikkonen has left an indelible impression on numerous F1 fans and influencers as well as those working with the sport around the world.

One of them is the former host of the popular show Top Gear Andy Wilmanwho told a heartwarming memory of Räikkösen On the Midweek F1 Podcast.

The Finn visited Wilman’s favorite show Star in a Reasonably Priced Car -section, where professional drivers drive regular cars against time.

When Räikkönen’s driving day arrived, the weather was rainy. According to Wilman, the Suzuki Liana he was driving didn’t really fly on the track.

Räikkönen had enough of driving, announced that he had driven enough, pulled his car to the side and left in his own motorhome.

Wilman followed behind and tried to push the Finn back onto the track. The producer needed more laps from the F1 legend, who at the time of the event had returned to royalty as a Lotus driver.

Wilman said conditions are improving and the track is drying out.

– Kimi, the track is drying out. I can’t reveal your time, but it wasn’t very good. We know you can drive faster than that, Wilman said in the podcast that he informed Räikkönen.

According to Wilman, Räikkönen sat awkwardly in his armchair and responded to this style laconically.

– I can’t, Räikkönen stated.

– If you look out the window, you can see that the track is drying out, Wilman continued.

After that, according to Wilman, Räikkönen would have gotten up from the sofa, looked out the window and answered briefly and concisely.

– It isn’t.

Wilman said in the podcast that due to Räikkönen’s indifferent attitude, he lost his temper. The presenter said that he had given the Finn a good interview.

It worked, and Räikkönen returned to drive a few laps – with modest success.

Räikkönen was only 12th fastest among celebrity drivers.

Wilman told the story smiling and laughing, so there is hardly any bad blood left between him and Räikkönen.
