According to him, this was a step towards de-escalation of the conflict in the east. “We hope that this time the ceasefire will be sustainable and help save the lives of Ukraine’s defenders and civilians,” added the head of the Ukrainian leader’s office.

The armed conflict in eastern Ukraine began in 2014. The following year, 2015, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France, through the mediation of the OSCE, signed the Minsk agreements.
