Kickboxer ‘Mootje MK’ faces first defeat in career

Kickboxer Mahamed Ahmed, better known as ‘Mootje MK’, lost for the first time in his kickboxing career on Saturday night. He himself did not agree, but in the Amsterdam Sporthallen-Zuid Ahmed lost on points to Ibrahim Andour.

Due to corona and several cancellations, the Alkmaarder fought his last match last October. “A lot of guys canceled the game at the last minute. That was quite frustrating, because I want to fight.”

Trainer L’Houcine Ouzgni kept her pupil focused last year. “If you don’t fight for a year, you get ring rust. The motivation decreases, because you are no longer stimulated to fight in the ring.”

(Un)beaten

The Pirate, as Ahmed is also known, has never lost in his career. However, that changed on Saturday evening. Opponent Ibrahim Andour was just a bit sharper in the first two rounds and scored more points. In the last round, the Alkmaarder gave home. He surprised his opponent from Rotterdam by several punch combinations. However, it turned out not to be enough for a win in the end.

Dubai and Germany

Despite the loss, Ahmed’s goal has not changed. “I want to become world champion at the Enfusion fighting association in 2023. Fights are planned in Germany and Dubai in the coming period. There I will shoot again and show that I am the best.”
