The financial problems of the KFC Uerdingen had long been known. Now the club is supposed to set the game, but is still fighting against it.
Four decades after the greatest success of its club history, the KFC Uerdingen is again deep in the crisis. The regional league has stopped playing with immediate effect – this was announced by the insolvency administrator on Tuesday. The club reacted promptly and announced legal steps against the decision.
As can be seen from a message from the responsible law firm, the dismissal of the non -profit welfare was the immediate trigger for the withdrawal. At the same time, there would be no sufficient funds available to continue the game. As a result, donations- whether in money or material- were no longer to be expected at a significant amount.
Despite the tense situation, the insolvency administration pursues the goal of ingesting and thus maintaining the club. A supporting group and the club management according to their own statements are working on a sustainable concept that provides for new structures and solid financing. It is planned to compete in the Oberliga for the coming season.
But within the club there seem to be different views on the further procedure. According to “Kicker”, several players want to complete the remaining season games even without paying. A club advisor emphasized that the organization of the upcoming games was secured. The club therefore wanted to enforce its participation in the game in an injunction.
Uerdingen’s retreat could also have an impact on the promotion race. There the MSV Duisburg is standing before returning to the 3rd league. Coach Dietmar Hirsch, however, told the “NRZ”: “We are still waiting for an official confirmation from the association.”
At the beginning of April, the district court of Krefeld opened insolvency proceedings at the request of tax authorities and health insurance companies – due to insolvency and over -indebtedness. Uerdingen, once Bundesliga club and DFB Cup winner from 1985, had last relegated from the upper house in 1996. In 2008 the crash to the sixth league followed. In the past, too, the association had to register several bankruptcy.
