Kevin Vogt played in the Bundesliga for more than 15 years. For health reasons, the defensive routine is now stopping earlier than planned.

Long-time Bundesliga professional Kevin Vogt is ending his career. The 34-year-old defender’s contract with second division club VfL Bochum, which is valid until 2027, will be terminated by mutual consent at the end of the season for health and injury-related reasons. “This decision is incredibly difficult for me. Football has been my life for as long as I can remember,” said Vogt in a statement.

He returned last summer Bochum back. He played there from 2004 to 2012 and made his Bundesliga debut in 2008. In the current season he only made three appearances. “VfL was always something special. I grew up here, I was allowed to become a professional here, and here I was allowed to come home again at the end,” explained Vogt.
