Kevin Visser exchanges FC Volendam for second divisionist AFC

Kevin Visser will play football for the Amsterdam AFC next season. That is what the FC Volendam midfielder said tonight after the end of the 3-2 lost match against FC Dordrecht† Visser was told last month that his expiring contract will not be extended.

Visser made his professional football debut for ADO Den Haag and also played for Helmond Sport. He has been under contract with FC Volendam since 2016. In Dordrecht he played his 300th professional football match, but his professional career will be over after next week.

“I’ve spoken to quite a few clubs, but decided to go to AFC. I don’t want to play for place ten to twenty,” said Visser, who added: “The fun in professional football has gone a bit.”

AFC is the current number six in the second division. In 2019, the team from Amsterdam became champion in the highest amateur division under the leadership of current trainer Uli Landvreugd. Landvreugd will leave after this season and will be succeeded by Benno Nihom, former coach of the Ajax Women.
