Kevin K. (35) from Roosendaal has to go to jail for ten years for killing his stepfather on 29 June last year. The court in Breda ruled on Tuesday. After his prison sentence, Kevin is placed under supervision to prevent repetition. Justice had demanded twelve years in prison against him two weeks ago.

In a few seconds, Kevin K. (35) stuck his stepfather Patrick five times in his head, neck and chest in the early morning of 24 June. He stopped stitching when the man hung forward in the belt of his work bus. Then Kevin walked calmly to his mother’s house on the Feithlaan in Roosendaal to take care of her.

By half past five, K. stabbed his stepfather Patrick (57), but only half an hour later he called 112. And that was also a separate, almost laconic conversation. “No, I’m not going to do anything crazy anymore. I have already done that, haha, “he told the 112 operator. He also said that the victim ‘was no longer awake’ and was well stabbed a few times. And he closed the conversation with ‘Thank you too, Hi Hi’.

Kevin had been waiting for hours for his mother’s friend to go to work. From him he wanted the key to his mother’s house. There was a conflict about being careful with the grandchildren. When the friend put the mother in front of the block, she chose the children and grandchildren. “Then you know the answer,” she said. “

To move house
Because the relationship was over that, Kevin and his sister and mother agreed to move the mother’s things that would be on Saturday morning if Patrick would be to his work. He was allowed to stay in the house for another three weeks, but the mother immediately wanted to leave.

Kevin was unable to sleep from all the tension and decided to go to his mother’s house at three o’clock at night. He immediately wanted to reclaim the keys from the friend and waited for him.

When Patrick finally got into his work bus, Kevin walked to his car. At first he was on the passenger side, but when the car went to drive he went to the driver’s side.

Kevin stood there for twelve seconds. Then Kevin walked away for five seconds, after which he was again twelve seconds ‘at the distance’ of the bus. And in that short time Kevin must have been told that he did not get the keys and stabbed the open window.

No murder
Because Kevin waited for hours on his stepfather, he could also be put in the shoes. But the court does not believe that Kevin has planned the death of his stepfather in advance. The court believes that he wanted to protect his mother and the keys wanted to return.

There had been tension in the family for some time and, according to the court, Kevin became too much. When the stepfather refused to give the keys, Kevin would have put on a whim. Kevin himself no longer remembers that moment.

Slightly mentally limited
The reports show that Kevin K. has a mild intellectual disability and in recent years has complaints due to overcome, which were exacerbated by the use of alcohol and sleeping problems.

His mother’s friend was not an easy man either. Dominant and aggressive, Kevin thought. His mother attracted dominant men, since Kevin’s father died when he was seven. “Patrick always wanted to play the boss, I saw him,” Kevin said during the session.

The court gives Kevin less punishment because he is slightly reduced accountable, according to experts. After his ten years in prison, he is placed under supervision to keep an eye on how Kevin deals with his problems. If he experiences long -term stress, there can be a chance of repeating due to his limitations.
