Kevin Spacey has reached an out-of-court settlement with three plaintiffs. The civil case is discontinued – financial details of the settlement remain unknown.
Kevin Spacey is a fallen hero of Hollywood. He was once one of the most sought-after actors of his generation, winning two Oscars and being one of the biggest stars in the industry. Kevin Spacey’s deep fall began in 2017: actor Anthony Rapp made serious allegations of sexual harassment against him. Subsequently, other men came forward with similar accusations. The whole thing resulted in several lawsuits and Kevin Spacey was considered a pariah in Hollywood. Now there are new developments in his case.
Out-of-court settlement
In 2023, the 66-year-old was acquitted by a London court. It was about a case in which four men accused him of sexual assault. Two of them subsequently filed a civil lawsuit, and another actor joined them. The subject was alleged acts that Kevin Spacey is said to have committed between 2004 and 2015 – during his time as artistic director of London’s Old Vic theater.
The civil trial for these three cases was originally scheduled to take place in October 2026. However, the actor was now able to avoid this. As the PA news agency reported, citing a judge’s order to stop the proceedings, he had agreed on an out-of-court settlement with the three men.
“By mutual agreement, all further proceedings against the defendant in these matters are suspended,” the judge said. What exactly the parties agreed on is not known. However, it can be assumed that the agreement is of a financial nature. The two-time Oscar winner always claimed to be innocent.
Kevin Spacey’s career on the ground
If Kevin Spacey and his accusers have actually agreed on a sum of money to settle the matter, it remains questionable how the actor plans to settle it. Since the allegations, his career has been in free fall and is now completely in ruins. Most recently, he reported financial problems and how he “literally” doesn’t have a “home.” He lives out of a suitcase, moves between hotels and sometimes works as a lounge singer on the island of Cyprus.
In the previous case involving actor Anthony Rapp, he was also acquitted – in New York.
