Soccer professional Kevin-Prince Boateng wants to decide soon whether his playing career will continue.

“I have to see what’s best for me, what my body can still give. I will make a statement on this in two weeks,” said the 36-year-old on Monday on the sidelines of the “One year to final” press conference, around twelve months before the final of the Soccer Championship in Berlin. Boateng is the capital’s EM ambassador.

Born in Berlin, he played for his youth club Hertha BSC last season, but was unable to prevent the seventh Bundesliga relegation in the club’s history.

Due to health problems, Boateng was rarely on the pitch but was one of the team’s leaders. His contract expired.

Recently there have been rumors about offers from abroad. Another option should be off-the-field work at Hertha.

Boateng: “I’m still in the phase where I’m looking at how things will continue. It’s been a tough few weeks and months for me after the descent. That’s why I told everyone that I needed a little break, that I wanted to go on vacation a bit. But in the next two weeks something will be decided and then I will announce it.”
