Kelly Osbourne is fighting back after people criticized her appearance at the 2026 Brit Awards on Saturday night.
The reality TV star attended the ceremony in Manchester to honor her father Ozzy Osbourne, who was posthumously presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Her apparent weight loss caused concern online and sparked public debate about her physical condition.
“There’s a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who’s clearly going through something,” Kelly wrote on her Instagram Stories (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Kicking me when I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning my back when I need support and love the most. None of this shows strength – it just reveals a deep lack of compassion and character.”
Hardest time of her life
She added: “I’m going through the hardest time of my life. I shouldn’t even have to defend myself. But I’m not going to sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized like this!”
Ozzy died last July at the age of 76. His wife Sharon Osbourne accompanied Kelly to accept the award on his behalf. “If Ozzy were with us tonight he would show us that beautiful smile he had and I know he would be so proud to receive that from the country he loved,” Sharon told the Brit Awards audience. “He may not be here anymore, but he left us an incredible life’s work that will never be forgotten by the country that made him great.”
This isn’t the first time Kelly has had to defend herself against body-shaming comments. In December, she shared a now-deleted video in which she addressed the constant speculation.
Clear words against haters
“To the people who think they’re being funny and mean when they write comments like ‘Are you sick’ or ‘Stop using Ozempic, you don’t look right,'” she said. “My dad just died and I’m doing my best and the only thing worth living for right now is my family. And I choose to share my content with you and show the happy side of my life, not the miserable one. So to all these people: Fuck off.”
Sharon played the clip during an interview with Piers Morgan and defended her daughter. “She’s right,” Sharon said to Morgan. “She lost her daddy. She can’t eat right now.”
Last August, Kelly admitted that she “won’t be okay for a while” following her father’s death. “I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever be enough… but from the bottom of my heart: thank you,” Kelly wrote on social media. “The love, support and beautiful messages I received from so many of you truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every memory shared, every bit of compassion meant more than I can ever explain.”
Grief comes in waves
She added: “Grief is a strange thing – it sneaks up on you in waves. I won’t be okay for a while, but knowing my family isn’t alone in their pain makes a difference.”
