Keith Richards has already received some awards in his life. A “sir” like being Rolling-Stones-Malge Mick Jagger is not (yet) the 81-year-old. For this he has now received a medal that has not yet existed. The guitarist is the first to award the Governor’s Award of Excellence in the city of Weston.
How is it? For 40 years, the Briton has lived mostly in Weston, Connecticut, around 90 minutes northeast of New York City. The small town has only 11,000 inhabitants, so a Keith Richards as Westoner is of course a striking resident. The city has already attracted several celebrities. Marilyn Monroe lived here for a short time. Christopher Walken, Christopher Plummer, Donna Summer and Robert Redford (during his lifetime) or have houses in the region.
The Governor’s Award of Excellence was awarded for the first time this year. The medal is something like an honorary award for well -deserved citizens of the city. Keith Richards received her as part of a ceremony in the nearby city of Westport in the local library.

The governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, honors Connecticut every year from now on. All people who embody creativity, ingenuity, passion, dynamics and generosity for the state are possible.
Ned Lamont in his acceptance speech before awarding the medal: “As one of the most influential musicians of all times and literally a living legend, Keith Richards is a committed and active supporter of the arts, the education and concerns of the community in all of Connecticut.”
And further: “Due to his generosity and commitment to organizations such as Sphere, who improve adults with disabilities, and The Prospector Theater, which offers sensible employment through the magic of the film, Richards has used its influence to encourage and strengthen others. Richards also campaigned for initiatives in the areas of art, education and accessibility in the whole state. And so that his commitment to a sustainable effect is further demonstrated. “
So now another price for Keef. The Rolling-Stones legend was already included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. 1993 in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. And 2004 in the UK Music Hall of Fame.
With the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards most recently released a studio album, “Hackney Diamonds” in 2023. And everyone is waiting for the band around him, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood soon to tour Europe, also Germany …
