Kayak rental companies warn: “Water level of Ourthe too low for kayaking” | Inland

Ardenne Aventures from La Roche-en-Ardenne no longer offers a kayak trip down the Ourthe since the beginning of this week. “The conditions are not good enough for kayaking,” said chief executive Manu Goldshmidt. “People have to get out of their boats too often. The material gets damaged, nature is damaged and the customers are not satisfied.”

Brandsport from La Roche-en-Ardenne also decided not to offer kayak services for the time being. “There is not enough water, people have to zigzag between the stones. That is no longer comfortable,” says employee Fabienne Huytbrechts.

Yesterday, however, the Ourthe got a green color on the website of the Walloon region with the navigable waterways. “Kayaking is still allowed, but I no longer offer it because people are dissatisfied. You have to get out of your kayak at least ten times in the 12 kilometers between Hotton and Noiseux,” said kayak rental company Christophe Ankaert from Hotton.
