Wright has not competed in international value competitions before. He lives in San Diego and studies at the University of Oregon in Eugene, where the adult world championships will start soon.

In May, Wright ran 400 meters with a time of 52.60, which is below the World Championship limit and the Finnish record in his age group. In that time, he ranks seventh on the all-time Finnish list of adults.

Wright will probably represent Finland at the Under-20 World Championships in Colombia in August.
