Award-winning presenter Katja Ståhl will be seen in Yökylä in the Maria Veitola program. Ståhl goes through his phase-rich career – and makes a revelation.

Ståhl tells how he was asked to audition for a paint advertisement, which caused quite a stir at the time. The open neckline of the model in the ad was too much for some, and not everyone viewed the ad well.

– Then I didn’t get it. Then when I saw that ad finished, I was like, okay, now I see why I didn’t get it. What the hell was that goal? Remember where there was this really big-breasted woman and it made a huge fuss? Ståhl asks at the wheel of the car From Maria Veitola.

Veitola remembers: Panu paint advertisement and Panu girl.

– Why didn’t I get it, excuse me now, Ståhl laughs.

– What a blessing that I didn’t get those places, because I would have been in the wrong place, says Ståhl.

Ståhl reflects to Veitola that he rather invests in charisma and that he is happy.

Panu girl

In the 1990s, Teknos’ Panu advertisements caused a great stir. Appeared in commercials Anne Marie Ellin-Laitinen told Iltalehti in an interview in 2019 how he had made a few television commercials and got into the catalogs of industry players when he was offered a role in a Teknos paint commercial.

– They reportedly wanted a blond woman like Johanna Raunien, Ellin-Laitinen said in 2019.

He said that four advertising versions were shot, and still photos were also taken for other marketing material.

– I have an image that I got 3,500 FIM for television commercials and 1,500 for pictures. Back then, it was quite a good salary for several days’ work.

However, the ad also received a lot of criticism. Ellin-Laitinen heard from Teknos that someone had complained about the ad to the market court.

The display of the ad was finally banned by the market court’s decision. According to the judgment, the Panu girl was “emphasized only as an eye-catcher without the performance having any connection to the marketed product”.

– I didn’t understand what was effervescent or demeaning to women in the ad. Exterior walls are painted in summer and with little clothing, because they get messy anyway. It was the revenge of flat-breasted women, Ellin-Laitinen said in an interview with Iltalehti.
