Czech tennis player Karolina Muchova will miss the Australian Open.
As the 27-year-old announced on Thursday, an injury to her right wrist prevents her from taking part in the first Grand Slam tournament of next year (January 14th to 28th).
“Unfortunately the pain (…) has returned,” wrote the world number eight on Facebook.
At the US Open in September, Muchova made it to the semi-finals, but was injured there. The highlight of her 2023 season was participating in the final at the French Open.
There was a defeat in three sets against Iga Swiatek.
