The presentation of Javier Milei’s new book at the Movistar Arena, on October 6, not only stood out for the enthusiasm of the public, but also for a new chapter in the internal of the ruling party. In the center of the conflict was Karina Milei, sister of the president and the figure of maximum confidence of the government, who was enraged when he learned that the digital militants of Santiago Caputo – one of the strategists closest to the head of state – participated in the event without their authorization.
According to sources from the libertarian environment, Milei seeks to limit in silence the influence of the most loyal collaborators to her sister, such as Eduardo “Lule” Menem and Martín “Nene” Vera. That is why he decided to invite “the forces of heaven”, the group of militants close to Caputo, and asked to escort him in his entrance to Movistar Arena, a decision that made without consulting it. The gesture was interpreted as a challenge at a time when the Caputo sector had been losing land within the government.
The news was released by Agustín Romo, Buenos Aires legislator and one of Karina’s main rivals within the space. Romo, together with Nahuel Sotelo and Daniel “El Gordo Dan” Parisini, revealed on social networks that “the forces of heaven” would accompany the president, which unleashed the fury of the secretary general. “He learned by the media and exploded,” summarized an official source. Milei’s decision to act behind his sister left tensions and divisions within the heart of libertarian power.
During the event, the intern was noticed. The militants aligned with Caputo, accompanied by PRO figures such as Diego Santilli and Guillermo Montenegro, were close to the president trying to recover prominence. But Karina replied: He ordered that the group did not have access to the VIP sector and relegated them to the stands, so they could not be located so close to the president.
The dispute between both advisors is not new, but the episode of the Movistar Arena marked a breakdown. While Karina seeks to maintain her control over the political structure of the government, Caputo tries to strengthen her influence on the communication and strategic area. The presence of macrista leaders together with the libertarian militants close to him fed the suspicions of possible internal alliances.
