Scandal surrounding national players getting bigger and bigger
BVB star Adeyemi apparently specifically ordered weapons

New turning point in the Karim Adeyemi case: Further revelations are intended to clearly refute the attacker’s previous narrative – and put the 23-year-old in a different light.
Karim Adeyemi is once again in the spotlight after a penalty order for illegal possession of weapons – and a new turn of events could now be really dangerous for the national player.
Because “Bild” reports: Adeyemi deliberately ordered the weapons in question. The Borussia Dortmund star had previously described the process as an “accident”. He informed Borussia Dortmund and the DFB that he was not aware of the prohibited contents of an online “Mystery Box” order.
However, according to new research by the tabloid, the Wetter district court’s penalty order states that he knew that the package contained, among other things, a brass knuckle knife, brass knuckles and an electrical impulse device. The only thing that remains unclear is who ultimately picked up the package from the post office.
The penal order literally states: In July 2024, Adeyemi picked up “a package you had previously ordered, which, as you knew, contained, among other things, a brass knuckle knife, a brass knuckle and an electric impulse device, from the Deutsche Post branch at 6:02 p.m., although you were aware that you were not entitled to possess these items – or you had the aforementioned package picked up by the witness C. from the Deutsche Post branch and delivered in July 2024 your apartment, even though you were aware that you were not authorized to purchase and possess these items.”
This now also calls into question whether Adeyemi correctly and honestly informed BVB and the DFB about his description of the incident. The suspicion: Adeyemi could have lied to both sides.
When asked by “Bild”, Adeyemi’s lawyer already backed away from the original explanation that it was an oversight: “As the name ‘Mystery Box’ suggests, it was clear that it would contain items like the weapons shown as examples in the freely accessible sales advertisement, but not which specific (let alone illegal) weapons these would be. Karim Adeyemi has fully informed his interlocutors at BVB and DFB about this.”
And: Since Adeyemi did not file an objection and the penalty order became final on October 30, 2025, a “fictional confession” is legally considered. That means: He did not contradict the allegations.
Adeyemi has to pay 450,000 euros for illegal possession of weapons. The basis is 60 daily rates of 7,500 euros each, calculated based on an estimated net income of around 2.7 million euros per year. He does not have a criminal record, but he does have an entry in the Federal Central Register. The seized weapons – brass knuckles, brass knuckles and an electric pulse device – were confiscated.
According to “Bild”, the investigation file comprises almost 300 pages – including photos of the items, chat histories, three witness statements and a weapons law report. If there had been a trial, many details would probably have become public.
A reaction from Borussia Dortmund and the DFB to the new developments is still pending.
