The new play written by Kari Hotakainen will premiere in late September.

A few years ago, Kari Hotakainen made the decision. Then the TV work was left behind the popular Need to be worried about as a panelist for the program.

The reason for the decision was clear. Hotakainen wanted to increase the role of leisure time in his life. That was also blessed to the author. Now Hotakainen is undergoing different writing projects, but there is time for more.

For her health, Hotakainen takes care of, for example, moving around and has been a long time. Hotakainen’s everyday life includes dog loops, cycling and badminton play, the latter of which has been his life hole for over 35 years.

Everyday and life focuses on Vantaa. Hotakainen lives in the village of Riipilä with his wife and dog.

The home is “pretty away”, as Hotakainen himself says. For that, weekly sports plays an important role in Hotakainen’s life.

– In badminton, people meet people, which is quite important at this age.

– If you just write home, you can get it pretty bad, Hotakainen laughs.

New play

At the end of September, a play written by Hotakainen will premiere Book Fair – or an interview that goes to hell. In the play, an interview with a success writer turns in an unexpected direction, and not with the accustomed formula.

The play as such is not based on Hotakainen’s life, but Hotakainen himself can identify with its theme.

The writer interviews for book fair visitors at the event are familiar as a concept and often progress through the same formula. The published book is annoyed, the writer uses praiseworthy words. The agenda is clear. The book wants to guarantee the best possible sale.

The author himself does not always feel that the book is really the best of the published. Hotakainen identifies with this.

– You will notice that you get involved in that automation. The interviewer says “a good audience, Kari Hotakainen has written a great book”. Then he asks that what I like and against “yes, I consider it significant.”

Reality can be different.

– There’s a shit sensor in the head that says the book is not the best, and I don’t think it, Hotakainen laughs.

From a blocked family father to a smooth performer

Publicity is part of Hotakainen’s job description and he is also accustomed to giving interviews. However, he has kept the focus on his work. Hotakainen is not happy to open up private matters, except for his family.

The relationship with publicity has not changed in itself over the years, but one thing is different.

– From an obstructed family father, I have become a pretty smooth performer. But it has not required any private life to open it.

In 1997, Hotakainen himself broke a kind of formula. 15 years had passed since the first book, when Satirinen appeared from Hotakainen Classic-book. At the heart of it is a public author and the book can even be seen as autophy.

– Then I thought that since I wrote about the subject and put my own alter ego in the book, now it is worth talking.

After the book was published, Hotakainen went to a bookstore for an event where he spoke for up to 14 minutes.

– Everyone was confused that what the hell had happened. That it has been quiet for 15 years, Hotakainen recalls.

Then Hotakainen decided that when he published something, he could also speak in interviews. Of course, only when someone contacts Hotakainen.

Hotakainen has also evolved into a smooth performer through TV. They did Hotakainen Do I have to worry? as a panelist for 11 seasons.

In front of the camera, Hotakainen also had its own terms. The answers would be read on paper.

-They were laughed at the idea that someone brings back the 1970s TV back to the 2020s. But it worked because others were spontaneous and relaxed. The contrast was pretty good.

The offspring works Ilona

When writing to the theater, Hotakainen is delighted with one thing. 68-year-old Hotakainen can then work with younger people.

– If I always did all the work with my own age, it could be nice, but it would not have electric, resistance or friction.

For five years, Hotakainen has been able to do TV work for five years.

– Those types are such a nice company, Hotakainen describes his former colleagues younger twenty years young.

Being with your own children and grandchildren also brings joy to life. At the age of 26 and 33, Hotakainen says he learns a lot.

– You can check out quite a few things that have already fallen.

For example, Hotakainen hears from his children if a term goes wrong. The writer describes his offspring as “refreshing critical and cheerful people.”

Hotakainen also has one grandchild. He is now three years old. Hotakainen says he is taking care of his grandchild every week.

“He already has crystallization,” Hotakainen describes.

No biography

In a couple of years, Hotakainen turns 70. Over the years, there have been many texts from poems to novels and play texts.

Hotakainen cannot answer the question of what he would like to achieve or do.

– When the anniversary happens, I know what I’m doing. Now I don’t know it at all.

Age is something that Hotakainen is not even happy to talk about. He has also dodged birthday interviews over the years.

– They are, at worst, terrible. People remember their own significance and then they forget that no one is interested.

When talking about the subject, Hotakainen returns to his three -year -old grandchild. He admires that children of that age have no idea-on the contrary.

– The findings are extremely rough, fast and accurate because they do not seek praise, publicity or anything.

Now Hotakainen is working on a few different texts. Their release date or even the final form is not known.

However, there is one kind of book that Hotakainen refuses. You can’t read her biography.

– I’m a person who in practice nothing happens.

Hotakainen thinks that the reader would yawn for cycling and badminton on the pages of the biography.

– If I met myself, I would probably call others, Hotakainen says.

On the other hand, things about yourself or life end up in books.

– Everyone ends up. It is not about autophy or anything else. And that’s a good thing, Hotakainen says.
