Karel Sabbe does it! With less than seven minutes left, he finishes in “the toughest running race in the world”

7 minutes, that’s how exciting Sabbe made it for supporters, friends and family. But he still reaches the finish line this year together with two other ultrarunners. Contestants have 60 hours to complete the crazy competition.

That is very special when you know that in 35 years only 15 ultra runners, until now, could finish in the race. For this trio we already have to go back to 2017 to find a finisher on the honors list.

For many, the Barkley Marathon in the United States is the toughest ultra run in the world. Participants have to complete five loops totaling no less than 160 km with 18,000 meters of altitude in 60 hours.
