The rapper, who was caught up in the controversy, released a new album on Friday.

British producer and singer James Blake does not want to be associated with American rapper Kanye West’s latest album. The artist has requested that his name be removed Bullyabout the producer credits of the album, music media NME tells.

West released his twelfth album on Friday. Blake and West have collaborated musically on several occasions since 2014, but this time Blake was not happy with the outcome of the collaboration.

– The way I arranged his vocals and built the song from his freestyle part is partly saved, Blake explains.

However, according to the producer, the new recordings added to the arrangement have changed the music too much and Blake no longer recognizes the spirit of his own work.

– I’m happy for the fans, but I’ve asked to be removed from producer credits for now because I don’t want to take credit for other people’s work, and this version is not the one I created with Ye.

Also performed in Finland

According to Blake, there are no personal reasons behind the request. The Grammy-awarded artist says that he has reached a point in his career that he does not want his name to be associated with songs whose outcome he could not influence.

In Finland, Blake was seen at the 2024 Flow festival. The British singer took the stage to replace the group The Smile, whose gig at the festival was cancelled.

West’s comments drew a shudder

Kanye West has made several anti-Semitic and racist statements in recent years and has said, among other things, that he is a Nazi. In January, the American rapper visibly apologized for his previous behavior and has claimed that his behavior was caused by previously undiagnosed health problems.

West is supposed to play gigs in Europe this summer. The upcoming tour has caused outrage at least in France, where the mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan announced that West is not welcome at the Vélodrome in Marseille.

– I refuse to let Marseille be a showcase for those who promote hatred and shameless Nazism, Payan wrote on the messaging service X at the beginning of March.
