Next week, the 2022 Coachella Festival will take place in Indio, California. In addition to Billie Eilish and Harry Styles, Kanye West should also really fire up his fans as the headliner on Sunday at the crowning conclusion of the festival. But nothing will probably come of it: The rapper has now canceled his appearance at short notice.

After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the American festival returns over two weekends, April 15-17 and April 22-24. Kanye West aka Ye was also scheduled to perform next Sunday. But according to “TMZ” and “Variety” he has now canceled his appearance. There is no official statement from the Coachella festival yet.

Last February, West threatened to boycott Coachella. The reason at the time is said to have been Billie Eilish’s cancellation of the concert after a fan complained of severe breathing problems. Afterwards, many visitors made comparisons with the festival tragedy at the Astroworld Festival, where a stampede during the Travis Scott concert resulted in several deaths.

Billie Eilish said: “We take care of our people, hang in there”. Though the singer didn’t name the rapper, West took it as an embarrassing provocation. Kanye West then asked her to apologize to Travis Scott. She explained, “I literally never said anything about Travis. I just wanted to help a fan.”

In the past few weeks, there has been a hailing of negative headlines about Kanye West. The rapper was disqualified from the Grammys last Sunday. Because of his hate speech, a petition was launched by some Coachella fans, postulating that his appearance should be canceled.
