Toyota’s Finnish star Kalle Rovanperä had a tough day at the Greek World Championship on Friday.
The drastic gravel roads were already rushing the Rovanperä car in the morning, after which the car had to be difficult to drive. In addition, the Finnish driver suffered a tire break in the last special stage, which dropped him to the seventh with the result.
– Not the best day. Of course we were expecting better. In the morning, there was no pace we would have liked. In the afternoon, the car had already taken a little hit because the morning was so drastic, Rovanperä said.
– In the afternoon it was difficult to drive super -hard. Then there was a tire break, which was why good starting points for tomorrow were lost. Let’s try to do what you can do tomorrow.
According to Rovanperä, the car’s suspension in the morning was tough.
– Something about the suspension had been twisted from here. It didn’t go straight after the morning. Nothing big, but now it wasn’t optimal to drive, Rovanperä summed up.
– It is not easy to push if the tires point in a different direction. Nor do I know where the tire break came from. After all, it may be due to the heat. However, it is part of the game.
On Saturday, there will be six special stages. Although Rovanperä dropped more than two and a half minutes from the tip, there will certainly be twists and turns in the race.
– Tomorrow, a few snippets are supercharged and tight. It feels like one of them, in particular, never stops. So a long day is coming again. Perhaps the circumstances are even more severe than in previous years, Rovanperä thought.
