With the new Kalea Fashion Store in Thalwil, a high-quality concept store is being created on 155 square meters that deliberately sets a counterpoint to online retail. The project was realized by the interior designer Knoblauch, who is responsible for both the interior design and the expansion.

Markdorf/Thalwil – Anyone who enters the new Kalea fashion store in Thalwil will find a relaxed concept store atmosphere with premium price brands – combined with personal advice, service and a special shopping experience. “Our customers appreciate a beautiful ambience,” says Monica Heini.

Behind Kalea Fashion are Monica and Patrik Heini, Swiss retail professionals with decades of market experience. The couple already runs seven stores – including a Marc O’Polo store – and know exactly what customers in Switzerland value.

Every stone is unique

Three central design elements characterize the store: the checkout, the changing room and a goods counter in the center of the room. The cash register and cubicles are particularly striking. Both areas are made entirely of three-dimensional bricks. “Each stone is unique because it warps slightly when burned,” explains Knobllauch interior designer Isabella Przybilla. The individual structure of the stones creates joints, edges and small irregularities – details that give the store character and require a lot of fine craftsmanship during assembly.

The cash register takes on an additional role in the store: it also functions as a small café bar. Visitors can easily enjoy a coffee and stay for a while. “In stationary retail, we have to be hosts and entertainers at the same time and create a wonderful experience,” explains Monica Heini.

Goods table as an eye-catcher

An elegant goods table made of fine oak veneer forms the design counterpoint to the brick structures. Even without goods, it acts as a central design object. The concept is complemented by stylish lights from Bolia and a minimalist floor-ceiling system made of powder-coated black steel, which perfectly showcases the curated goods. Thanks to generous storage areas, the store can be deliberately stocked in an airy and high-quality manner – without printing goods. The range includes premium labels such as Closed, Drykorn, Lis Lareida, ODEEH and Dorothee Schumacher as well as selected cashmere brands and Scandinavian niche products.

Generous mirrors in the front and rear areas enhance the feeling of space. “We have created a charming, feminine place where women feel comfortable,” says Isabella Przybilla.
