Musician Kaj Mulder from Drouwenermond will be on the immense stage of the Mega Pirate Festijn in the Gelredome on December 20. For the young singer it is a dream come true.
That yielded more than he had dared to hope for. Not only was he asked to sing one song during the Mega Pirate Festijn in Borger. He can immediately join the entire tour, visiting Marum, Maaskantje, Oldebroek and Klazienaveen.
The Gelredome only came into the picture later. “I suddenly received a short text from my booker: ‘You are also in the Gelredome.’ Such a small message, but very big for me,” says Mulder, visibly proud.
In addition to performing, the 19-year-old also writes a lot of his own music. In just five days he wrote six to seven new songs. He receives help from Robert Vredeveld and Jeroen Russchen, but he also writes at home. “Sometimes even together at the kitchen table with my mother. She has no musical background at all, but it works.”
Which songs he will sing in the Gelredome remains a secret for now. “If you know what someone is going to do, you also know how long they will be on stage. They like to keep that under wraps.”
He hardly has any nerves anymore, he says. “I only think when it gets really close, but healthy tension is part of it.” Mulder is especially looking forward to the moment itself: “From flea markets to the Gelredome. That is just very special.”
