Kai Havertz was the first German footballer to score a goal in two different Champions League finals.
In the final in Budapest against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, the DFB professional scored for Arsenal FC after just six minutes. In the final five years ago, the former Bayer Leverkusen striker shot Arsenal’s local rivals Chelsea to the title.
According to data provider Opta, Havertz is the third German player to score in two different finals of Europe’s top club competition.
Previously, only Gerd Müller and Franz Roth, who scored for FC Bayern Munich in the European Cup in the 1970s, had achieved this. Since the 1992/93 season, the competition has been held under the name Champions League.
Havertz also becomes the third player, after Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United and Real Madrid) and Mario Mandzukic (Bayern and Juventus), to score in two Champions League finals for two different clubs (Chelsea and Arsenal).
