In Vikersund there was a moment of shock on Sunday before the official jumping. An athlete falls and then remains lying.
Kacper Tomasiak fell badly during the ski flying qualification in Vikersund. The Pole jumped 192 meters but lost control when landing: his left ski slipped and the right one got stuck in the snow. Tomasiak fell into the run, writhing in pain.
Close-up footage was not shown as the medical team cared for the jumper. Eventually Tomasiak was taken out of the run on a stretcher. A short time later, however, the all-clear was given. The two-time silver medalist from the 2026 Olympics was conscious, it was said. Hospitalization was not necessary and he did not suffer any serious injuries.
World Cup director Sandro Pertile said that “everything is fine” with Tomasiak and nothing serious has happened.
