Astro’s Korean singer and actor Moon Bin has passed away. A manager found him dead in his Seoul apartment on April 19.
Moon Bin, a former member of the K-pop group Astro, died yesterday (April 19) at the age of 25. Astro’s label Fantagio released a statement confirming that a manager found the singer dead at his Seoul apartment. A cause of death is not yet known.
“First of all, we would like to apologize for having to deliver this sad and heartbreaking news,” the statement said soompi translated into english. His colleagues at Fantagio feel deep sadness at the death of the 25-year-old, the management continues. You would know, however, that it is no comparison to the grief felt by his family. “It pains us even more to deliver this sudden news to the fans, who sent a lot of love and support to Moonbin. As we know only too well how unique the deceased’s love was for his fans, […] the grief is all the more overwhelming.”
The label went on to say that the family would like a quiet funeral. Fantagio also asked fans to refrain from speculating about Moonbin’s cause of death. We want to give everyone the opportunity to say goodbye appropriately to the deceased.
Moon Bin: successful actor and musician
Moon Bin began his career as a child, modeling, acting, appearing in music videos and K-drama Boys Over Flowers. Early in his career he signed with Fantagio. There he went through the company’s apprenticeship program, which eventually landed him at Astro. The group’s first project was the web series To Be Continued. After that, the band around Moon Bin focused on music. In 2016 Astro released the debut EP SPRING UP.
Over the next three years, Moon Bin worked on various TV projects, while Astro regularly released new, increasingly popular music. Finally, in 2019, the debut album ALL LIGHT was released, which reached number 1 in the Korean charts. In the same year, however, Moon Bin announced a temporary break, which he justified with unspecified health problems.
In 2020, the Korean rejoined the group. In addition to other work with Astro, Moon Bin also worked on a side project with bandmate Yoon San-ha. The two released a total of three EPs, the last in January 2023. The last Astro album with Moon Bin DRIVE TO THE STARRY ROAD was released in May 2022.
