Juventus forwards recovered for Verona

Allegri finds Vlahovic and Chiesa in form and plenty of men and options up front: an extra weapon for Verona and the scudetto

The defense is already at the top, the attack not yet. Having fixed the solidity, Juventus focuses on goals. Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa started strongly (4 goals each), but were then held back by physical problems. And along the way, both Arek Milik and Moise Kean had some ailments. Massimiliano Allegri found his team complete at the San Siro, but not yet in the best conditions due to Vlahovic’s return only during the break (low back pain) and Chiesa’s last minute recovery (muscle fatigue). The running-in went well. So, if everything goes according to plan, from Saturday Max will finally be able to count on the polished heavy artillery. Four strikers for two places, with the possibility of alternating them and making the most of them Vlahovic, Chiesa, Milik and Kean. Plenty of solutions and ammunition to beat Verona (Saturday) and launch themselves at the top of the table for one night, waiting for the Milanese team. Leaders Inter (22 points) will host Roma twenty-four hours later, Milan (21) will be on stage in Naples. Black mark crossings that could put the Lady back in the lead at least momentarily, as has not happened since August 2020 and the last of the 9 championships of the cycle: the one won with Maurizio Sarri on the bench. It won’t be a match point, we’re only at the end of October: but it would still be a good feeling for the Bianconeri. At the end of September, in the same situation, Danilo and his teammates not only didn’t win, but they experienced a nightmare evening in Reggio Emilia. Ducks, blunders and own goals with many greetings to the virtual first place. One more reason, against Verona, to keep the tension high and not fall back into old mistakes.

The comparison

Wanting to look at the glass half full, as Allegri usually does, since the defeat at Sassuolo the Lady has no longer conceded a goal. Szczesny hasn’t picked up the ball in four games. Now that the solidity, compactness and desire to sacrifice themselves in the defensive phase are back to those of the best times, Juventus will try to make the most of their newfound offensive abundance. Of the big names, the Lady is the one who has scored the fewest goals ever in Serie A (15 against Inter’s 24, Milan’s 16 and Napoli’s 20) and also with their own strikers. Vlahovic and Chiesa are stuck at 4 goals each and haven’t scored since September. Milik scored twice and Moise Kean, who was decisive at San Siro when Thiaw was sent off, is still chasing his first celebration of the season. Just to give you an idea: Napoli have had their attackers score 15 times in Serie A, Inter 14 and Milan 13.

Goals in the feet

On Saturday, Juventus starts again with the 10 goals scored by Vlahovic (4), Chiesa (4), Milik (2) and Kean, but without trips around Europe or international matches on their legs. Allegri will use the next 3-4 days to improve Dusan&C’s condition. and the biggest problem could become choosing who to start the game with and who to try to break (or close) it with during the course. Without Cups – and with only one match per week – four attackers of the caliber of Vlahovic, Chiesa, Milik and Kean are a luxury. Dusan is only 23 years old, but in his CV he already boasts a year of 29 goals in the championship and cups. Milik reached 20 goals in Naples and during his time at Ajax he reached 24. Chiesa reached double figures in 2020-21: a goal with Fiorentina and then the transfer to Turin and another 14 goals. Kean did even better that season, which began at Everton and continued with the loan to Paris Saint Germain: 19 goals between England and France, 17 of which came from Mbappé and the other Parisian stars.

Here’s Vlahovic-Chiesa again

All reasons that make Juventus think positively. On paper, the Juventus strikers have no shortage of “goals in their feet”. It will be up to Allegri to manage, exploit and mix the characteristics and qualities of the four in the best possible way to increase the Lady’s prolificacy. Because it is true that football is not arithmetic and championships are won with the best defence, but the feeling is that the Bianconeri can score more than what we have seen so far. Increasing the goals after having raised the wall would be another indication of Juventus’ strength and championship ambitions. Easier mission with Vlahovic and Chiesa back in shape and hungry like at the beginning of the season.
