Although Matthijs de Ligt still has a contract with Juventus until mid-2024, he could just leave this summer. According to director Maurizio Arrivabene, a sale is negotiable, as long as the right amount is on the table.
De Ligt is high on Chelsea’s wish list, which must bring the defense back up to strength after the departure of Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen. According to the Italian Tuttosport Juventus requires an amount of 100 million euros for the Orange international.
Arrivabene does not comment on amounts in the Italian newspaper itself, but emphasizes that he will not keep players to a contract at all costs. “Today it is impossible to keep a player who wants to leave. However, there will first have to be some tough negotiations. “When the parties leave the negotiating table, all three must stand up satisfied. And the conclusion will always be: whoever has the money has won.”
It is questionable whether De Ligt is interested in a departure from Turin. ,,I don’t think I’m necessarily the first Orange player to be eligible to make a transfer”, he reacted in semi-surprised way earlier this month after the international match of the Orange in Cardiff against Wales, ,,I have a permanent contract, I play almost everything at Juventus. You never know in football.”
